Three new members elected to CFHZ Board of Trustees in 2022

The Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area’s Board of Trustees recently elected three new members. Ed Amaya, Jasmine Irish, and Kolin Van Fossan were all elected during the Board’s 2022 annual meeting.

Ed Amaya is the President/Owner of Kenowa Industries – a custom fabrication business that specializes in material handling solutions. In 2012, Kenowa Industries was awarded the Minority Owned Business of the Year from the Holland Chamber. Ed financially supports and volunteers for many community organizations. Most notably, he served as board chair of Latin American’s United for Progress and in 2019, when the organization was going through a
leadership transition, served pro bono as Interim Executive Director for 18 months while still running Kenowa. Ed presently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital and Vanderbilt Charter Academy and is a member of CFHZ’s Distribution Committee. He and his wife Tina are Bridge Builders.

 

 

Jasmine Irish is a community volunteer who has been actively involved in giving of her time, talent, and treasure to various local nonprofits. Jasmine holds a BA in Business Administration and Marketing from University of Notre Dame. She has generously given of her time to volunteer at Boys and Girls Club of Holland, Resilience: Advocates for Ending Violence, Holland Christian Schools, Hope College’s Big Read, Refresh Ministries and the Community Foundation. She is presently a member of the Board of Directors of Resilience, CFHZ’s Scholarship Committee, Promise Scholarship Selection Committee, and Distribution
Committee. Jasmine and her husband Patrick have three young children and live in Holland. They have a Donor Advised Fund at CFHZ and financially support the Holland/Zeeland Promise.

 

 

Kolin Van Fossan is a senior at West Ottawa High School and serves on the Board as a youth trustee. He has been a member of the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) since 2020 and will serve as Chair of YAC for the 2022–2023 school year. Outside of YAC, Kolin spends his time playing varsity hockey, volunteering through the National Honor Society, and enjoying time with friends at Spanish Club.

 

 

In addition, a new slate of officers for the Board of Trustees was also elected during the Board’s annual meeting.

Diane Kooiker will serve as Board Chair. She succeeds Deborah (Deb) Sterken, who held the position of Chair in 2021.

Tom DenHerder will serve as Chair-Elect.

Scott Brooks will serve as Secretary; and Erin Zylman will serve as Treasurer.
