Community Impact

We pull resources and the community together to meet area needs that change over time, making a better future for all. In a typical year, we award grants for community development, outdoor spaces, health, housing, human services and youth, in the form of competitive grants and over 150 other donor advised and designated agency grants.

Along with supporting agencies in our community, we have taken a strategic look at our community needs, both short and long term. From this analysis, we launched and still support the Ready for School initiative, which is making great strides in early childhood education for area youth. Because we believe education is a key to the success of our children and our community, we are continuing this commitment through our application to Michigan College Access Network, a program that encourages post-high school education.

Model Community Initiatives

The greater Holland/Zeeland area is a special community that has enjoyed a successful past, a strong local economy and a uniquely desirable quality of life. Unfortunately, a combination of global forces has fundamentally changed the effectiveness of area business models and the way we must approach our future. It is imperative and urgent that leaders from all three sectors (business, government and non-profit) work together to address Holland/Zeeland economic revitalization for the benefit of all. The Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area is pleased to support the Model Community Initiative which encourages involvement and input that will foster leadership consensus on priority actions for our community.
