Margaret Van Grouw joined the Board of Trustees in the spring of 2014 and serves on the Development Committee. For 30 years, Margaret worked as an elementary classroom teacher for Holland Public Schools. She has been a community volunteer for many years, serving on numerous city boards and commissions. Some of her experience includes 20 years on the Zoning Board of Appeals, six years on the Historic District Commission, six years on the International Relations Commission, and six years on the Planning Commission.
Margaret was a founder of the Holland Youth Advisory Council and served as an advisor to that group for 20 years. She has also been involved with her church on the Consistory, Christian Education Council, and Classis Committee. She is highly involved with the Hope Academy of Senior Professionals (HASP), with over 23 years of service, including Curriculum Chair for six years and serving one term as President. Margaret was a “Blueprint for Aging” task force member and has been an Income Tax AARP Aide for 25 years. She served on the Holland Symphony Board for 15 years, and has been part of the American Association of University Women for 53 years, including roles as Branch President and State Division Board Member.
