Jim joined the Board in spring of 2014. A 37-year veteran of banking, Jim spent his first 10-years with the former First Michigan Bank (now Huntington) in a variety of positions while completing his undergraduate studies in business administration / finance at GVSU.
Jim received an opportunity to work in senior positions with Old Kent Bank – Holland (now 5/3 Bank) in 1993 which is where he met and worked for Rich Lievense, the founder of The Bank of Holland. This connection and a diverse banking background, provided the opportunity for Jim to help start The Bank of Holland back in 1998. In 2015, Jim joined West Michigan Community Bank and is Senior Vice Preisdent / Lakeshore Market Manager.
As Chair-Elect of the Board of Trustees, Jim is part of the Executive Committee. He also serves as the Operations Chair. Jim is actively involved in the community where he presently serves as a board member of the the City of Holland Downtown Development Authority. On Saturday mornings, Jim runs a basketball outreach program at his church, Rose Park Reformed.
Jim is a past board member of the Holland Area Arts Council, Lakeshore 504, Holland Area Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement, and a former trustee of the Muskegon Public Schools Board of Education. He also served as a charter member of the executive committee for the Ready for School Council.
He has completed course work at the South West Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business and advanced management at the U of M Ross School of Business.
